Help prevent and lessen winter slip, trip and fall incidents by using the below Step Wisely program poster to call attention to temporary slip, trip and fall hazards, such as changing weather conditions.

  • The posters have been developed for temporary use on or near exit doors during changing weather conditions or other temporary safety issues.
  • The posters are intended to be used as a tool in conjunction with other practices, including shoveling, sweeping, applying salt or sand, or other injury prevention strategies.
  • Posters should only be used on a temporary basis when warranted. Permanent use could result in employees becoming complacent or reduce the poster’s effectiveness.
  • The posters should not be used as a substitute for slip and fall prevention best practices.

2 Poster Options, 1 PDF

  • Slick Conditions (option 1): This poster is intended to warn occupants exiting buildings that walking surfaces may be slippery due to changing weather conditions.
  • Specific Need (option 2): This poster includes a blank section, allowing users to enter a message based on a specific need, such as “Watch for Falling Icicles” or “Be Aware of Heaved Pavement”

MCIT’s Step Wisely program helps make slip, trip and fall prevention efforts easy for its members. Slip, trip and fall incidents are particularly prevalent during Minnesota winters. Providing your employees and the public information to help them make safer behavior choices could keep your employees from being injured and save your organization significant costs, time and grief related to those injuries.
